"Be mindful with your self talk. It is a conversation with the Universe."
- Angie Karan
The other day I read that the human mind can only hold one emotion every 30 seconds. This means that in order to keep an emotion, you must keep choosing it.
It sounds way too simple. Especially when considering such an important topic as one’s happiness. The idea of choosing one’s thoughts and emotions IS simple, but definitely not easy. There are some times when we must face the situation before us and feel sadness, loss, grief, or anger in order to process.
But on a day to day basis, we often feel these emotions unnecessarily. We react immediately to little situations that do not always warrant a reaction. These emotional responses can get stuck in our physical body showing up as tension, muscle tightness, stress, and even illness.
Here lies the connection between our thoughts, our bodies, our lives, and consequently our happiness. The truth is that there will always be good and bad things in our lives, most likely happening at the same time. But we have the choice to acknowledge both sides, and choose what type of energy we will allow to permeate in our minds. The energy (or emotions) that we choose by being conscious of our thoughts, manifests in the vibration of our cells. At a high vibration, emitting positive energy; you will then attract other positive, high-vibrating people and opportunities. By choosing to feel gratitude, presence, or joy, you will be creating a positive vibration that radiates through your body and your life.
Here are a few simple ways to enact this change:
Negative thoughts WILL come up. Everyone has them. We are all human. But it's the consistent effort of replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, that will rewire our brains for a higher frequency of living. So tomorrow morning when you wake up, count your blessings and choose to be grateful for the day. When your standing in line at the grocery store, feel your feet on the ground and choose to breathe in happiness. We have the power to change our minds, bodies, and lives with the choice that lies in our thoughts. Choose love. Again, and again, and again. Choose happiness.
In love & light,
